Find the Lowest Gas Prices Near You

Published by literarychica under Budgeting, money Edit This

I just came across this site that helps you to find the lowest gas prices near you.  Mapquest not only shows you the directions and map to places but also will help you to locate decent gas stations. On the site they tell you the lowest and then the highest prices in the nation as this will help you to gauge the prices.  I also see that they have a Gas Price Calculator is which you are able to input the trip distance (in miles), the miles per gallon that and cost per gallon from the station that you plan to fill up from. It also has the features of finding alternative fuel stations such as BioDiesel and E85 Ethanol fuels in a variety of states.  Mapquest updates their listings on a regular basis.

Five Ways to Save Money on Groceries

Five ways to be able to save money on groceries which will not only help your wallet but help your funds on fuel. So I would consider this as a two for one deal.

1. Consider purchasing store brands instead the name brand products. Choose between Kelloggs’ Fruit Loops and the store brand Fruit Loops can be difficult so during these tough times consider purchasing the store brand and save money. At times the only difference is the price and the quality is the same.

2. Buy products in bulk. I like to buy products that I use on a daily basis such as paper products like paper towels, toilet paper, and napkins as those will last for several months. I also like to buy meats and fish that I am able to cut into portions and freeze.

3. Try to avoid buying prepared foods such as they are not only expensive but also at most times are not healthy such as french fries, Pop Tarts or tater tots. So if you do need buy prepared foods then consider buying them in bulk to save money and keep the costs down.

4. Stock up on products that are on sale. It is a great way to save money on items that you buy on a regular basis.

5. Do not shop when you are hungry as it is very easy to make wrong choices in buying foods and products that you do not need. So do make sure that you eat ahead of time before going into the grocery store.

How to Save on Phone Bills

If you are anything like me, I do use like to use the phone on a regular basis to make calls.  I do use my landline for long distance and international calls instead of my cell phone.  A suggestion would be to review your bills at least once a year for the last few months to see what type of calls you’re making.  From there call several phone companies to see what they type of services they provide and to see what their charges are and try to find a cheaper plan.  It is good to try to find a plan that offers a bundled service plan such as broadband internet access, long distance, local toll and local calls.

Check your phone bill to see if you have optional calling features or other additional services that you may not need such as inside wiring maintenance.

It is a good idea to dial your international calls directly instead of using an operator to make a call as that does cost extra. If you are calling for information then consider using the Internet to find this information instead.

If you rarely use your phone then consider disconnecting the service and use prepaid phone cards to make calls.  So this is another way to save money on your phone bills and put more money in your pocketbook or wallet.

Tips on Saving Gas

Here are some great tips on saving gas and learning how to conserve not only fuel but to try to save money too. Some of the best ways to this is to be creative and efficient in how to handle it.  One good way is to combine all of your errands together in one trip so that you will be able to get as much done as possible.  Also be mindful of traffic and try to stay in one local area.  It is good to carpool as this will save in gas and reduce the amount of vehicles on the road.

Do make sure that your vehicle is properly maintained by filling your tires properly with air will help you to improve your gas mileage.  Also change your oil and remember to replace your air filters which will also save you money.

Building on Growth to Debt Free Status

My personal goals of becoming debt free has been a tough trial to endure.  I really never thought that I would have ever received this chance to be able to redeem myself to be able to take care of my finances.  I know that I want to be able to do great things and have the flexible ability to handle anything that is thrown at me. I am very thankful that I have a job that I enjoy doing and it is helping me to grow professionally and personally on a regular basis.

While I work on my finances I have noticed that I am more watchful of the way that I spend my money. I weigh in the pros and cons, think about what will happen if I purchase this item, will be it be helpful in the long-run or is it just something that I am wanting. So I realized that this is good and in turn has helped me to think more about the choices that I have been making and seeing the cause and effect of those choices at the same time. All I can do is continue to work on this and I am sure that I will continue to see growth like this on a regular basis.
