How to Save On Groceries

Published by literarychica at 7:39 am under Budgeting, money, savings Edit This

With these trying times it does not hurt to be able to try to save in all aspects of your life. Saving on food is another important item to focus on.

Some ways of being able to save money on food:

1. Use coupons as this will help to save on average 5% to 20% on approximately every $100 that is spent on groceries. I would say that this is a great way to be able to save money and get more for your money. Watch for the grocery store advertisements that come either in the mail or in the newspaper. If you do not receive the newspaper then they do have the advertisement fliers for the coming week in their stores and in most cases they have it also available online. Coupons can also be found online through a variety of websites such as Coolsavings.com .

2. Another is if you have a baby then instead of buying baby food, consider making your own. This can easily be done by buying fresh vegetables such as corn, peas, carrots, green beans and run it through a blender. After this then freeze it and when you are ready for feeding time, defrost it and the meal is ready to go. The same can go for other foods that you may be making for the family just use less salt, puree in the blender or hand puree and freeze.

3. Freeze extra portions of your food such as spaghetti which will be able to be eaten later. This is great way to make your own frozen dinners. I like to make apple pie and freeze it for later. It is nice to have dessert available for a later time.
